The Craft Show Prep Pile: What to Bring to Your Next Makers Market

If you've ever participated in a craft show, you know that getting ready for market day is almost an event of its own! Between making products, pricing everything, gathering displays, and packing supplies, there's a LOT to remember.

As I prepare for another makers market with NicolioWithLove, I thought I'd share a few things I've learned along the way.

Start With Your Products

Make a list of what you're bringing and count your inventory before packing. Don't forget to price everything! I also recommend keeping a simple inventory sheet so you can track what sells and decide what to bring to your next show.

Think About Your Display

You don't need an elaborate booth to make an impression. Risers, baskets, crates, and clear organizers can add height and help customers see your products. I like to gather my display pieces ahead of time so I'm not scrambling on setup day.

Pack the Little Things

Some of the most important supplies aren't products at all! Bring scissors, tape, pens, extra price tags, shopping bags, business cards, a phone charger, and a payment method that works for your business. Water and snacks are a good idea, too!

Make It Easy on Yourself

Whenever possible, group similar supplies together and pack by category. Keeping your products separate from your display equipment and checkout supplies makes setup and packing up much easier.

And remember, your first few markets are learning experiences. Pay attention to what customers love, what sells, and what you might do differently next time.

My craft show prep pile might look a little chaotic right now, but there's a plan in there somewhere! 😉

Happy crafting and happy selling!
